Gators vs. Pink Ladies

At the end of Nolan's baseball season Coach Drew organized a moms vs. sons baseball game and the boys were all for it! Even better...all the moms agreed to participate as well! So, we moms wore pink shirts and eye black under our eyes and attempted to play a game of baseball with the boys. What fun we had! I managed to get a few hits and catch a pop fly to boot! Final score: Gators 2, Pink Ladies 9! We celebrated with pizza for everyone!

Luke's 5th Birthday Extravaganza

Luke was lucky enough to have his 5th birthday celebration last an entire week! He had a baseball themed birthday party with 8 of his closest friends at Southlake Gymnastics where the kids got to swing from ropes and drop into foam pits as well as play a version of musical chairs with water guns!

This year Granny and Papa came to visit Luke on his birthday and watch him play his last t-ball game of the season. He did great although was more entertained by finding sunflower seeds in the dug out and taking them to the infield to plant them (much to our dismay)! Luke loves the idea of baseball, but not real focused on the game just yet.

The real highlight of the day came when he was opened his birthday gift and it was a Nintendo DS just like Nolan's. To us it's a curse and a blessing to have such an object in the hands of a 5 year old. Many times it causes conflict but on 10 hour car rides it offers much needed silence! All together now...ahhhhhhh.

Baseball mitt birthday cake! I found an awesome cake supply store where you can rent pans for a buck! What a deal! Saves me money AND storage for a pan I most likely won't ever use again!

Where's Dane?

A 2 year old can only be entertained by a tur-tul kite for but a moment. Dane set off to have some fun of his own. After eating some dirt and throwing it around in his hair he tried his hand at dog walking (although he was outweighed 3:1), he occasionally took note of the kites above him, ran in circles and giggled and later walked a tight-rope (aka the street curb). But he had fun and that's all that mattered!

New Kites!

Easter bunny brought each boy a brand new kite and we had a perfect, overcast and windy day to fly them. Nolan did a great job with his kite, his was frog shaped. Luke did pretty well with his fish shaped kite and Drew helped Dane with his tur-tul kite (turtle). I love that we live across the street from the park!

It was fun finally getting all 3 kites up at the same time.

Nolan got his up in the air.

Luke was doing good as well. Look at that stance!

This is a serious face.

Here Comes Peter Cotton Tail

Easter perhaps is my favorite holiday season of the year. I particularly love Easter in April when flowers are in bloom and the earth comes alive again! We had a wonderful Easter morning enjoying time with the boys hunting the eggs Peter Rabbit left for us at our house. Peter hid eggs inside the house and outside as well. He even hid the eggs we colored on Friday. He was one busy rabbit! Probably the cutest thing this year was Dane and his basket. He guarded it and held it close to him at all times. He digs chocolate and who could blame him!

Doesn't flowers in bloom just make you happy?

Nolan began his egg hunt in the family room.

Nolan and Luke found eggs in the shutters!

Dane found jelly beans and Reese's peanut butter cups in his eggs!

Luke found some hard boiled eggs outside!

The boys all dressed up in their Sunday best! Nolan said he was going to look "dumb" in his pink shirt but I think he looks rather handsome.

Grandma and Grandpa Wilson's Fantastic Easter Egg Hunt

Grandma and Grandpa Wilson threw the best Easter Egg hunt to date! We lucked out and the rain held off until later in the evening and at 4pm many friends and family gathered with easter baskets in hand to kick start the Easter Eve activities with a giant Easter egg hunt. And to make the "hunting" fair there were 2 age categories: Those who wear diapers and those who do not. The little ones hunted eggs in front of the house and had lots of fun and some even collected $1 gold coins. Easter bunny was loaded this year!!! After the toddlers hunted Easter eggs we turned our sights to the backyard where the big kids got to hunt eggs. Captain Butch was sure to give explicit instructions that if you were in Kindergarten or older you had to run all the way down to the fence and then collect eggs on your way back up while anyone who was still in pre-school (but not in a diaper) could start collecting eggs right away. There were shiny eggs with gold coins and clear eggs perched high upon branches that had race cars inside of them. As you can imagine the egg hunt ended quickly and so we celebrated some more by smashing confetti eggs on each other's heads. Below are a few pictures from yesterday's festivities with many more on Shutterfly to see!

Does anyone notice anything interesting about this picture?! How about the boatload of boys and 2 token girls?!?!

On your mark...get set...go!!!!! And they're off!

What's a Birthday without a trip to the Urgent Care!

In true Wilson fashion we went all out for Dane's 2nd birthday party. We invited out closest friends and of course our family members to celebrate a "quacky" birthday for Dane. We have a pond across our street that has a group of ducks swimming in it a few times each day. Dane LOVES to go and watch the "quack quacks" as he calls them and they provide good distraction for him when a temper tantrum is coming on as well. So this year I attempted to decorate a 3-D duck cake for Dane and it actually turned out very well. I also decorated some mallard sugar cookies as well.

The evening was going as planned. Everyone had arrived, kids were playing in the backyard and food was being served. Nolan wanted to show Grandpa his new golf clubs which were in the garage and as always Nolan was running around barefoot. Somehow he stepped on the metal edge of an old table and cut his foot. I'm thinking, "let's put a band aid on it" but it was more than a band aid and was becoming quite messy. Thank goodness for our great friend and neighbor, Meredith, although a Pediatric Oncology nurse she was very calm about helping to stop the bleeding and wrap up his foot so we could take him to the Urgent Care clinic. So, with a house full of people we put Nolan in the car and took off. This was a bit of De Ja Vu for us because right before Lukes' 2nd birthday he fell off the swing while we had friends over for dinner and we had to take him to the Urgent Care to glue his chin back together! In any case, the doctor had to make 3 stitches and continued to tell us how deep the cut was and how he "fileted" his foot. Nolan was a champ because we knew it hurt, the doctor even said when he was getting ready to give him the numbing treatment that he wasn't going to lie because it was really going to hurt. Nolan and I practiced some breathing exercises and for a moment you would have thought he was birthing a child instead of getting stitches in between his toe and bottom of his foot.

We managed to get home in less than 1 hour but by this time many of our party guests had left. Thankfully Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Lizzie, Hunter and Weston were still at our house when we returned to sing Happy Birthday and open a few more presents. All in all, we are thankful for healthy children and great friends and family!

Dane was sad when his party friends were heading home and he couldn't find his Mama and Daddy! Look at that face. Breaks my heart.

Happy Birthday to Dane!

Cake time!

Just love this picture and how he's sitting. He LOVES ducks!
